No, We Don’t Make 1,000 Sandwiches in Our Home Kitchen 😂

Picture this:

Our founder, standing in her home kitchen at 5 a.m., surrounded by 1,000 sandwiches.

Sandwiches on the counters. Sandwiches on the table. Sandwiches stacked next to the toaster. Maybe a few next to the coffee maker.

Thankfully, that's NOT how we do things at Simple Bites Meals. 😂

Believe it or not, we've discovered that some people assume we're a small meal-prep company making meals and sandwiches out of a home kitchen.

We love the "small local business" part.

The home kitchen part? Not quite.

Welcome to Our 13,000-Square-Foot Kitchen

Simple Bites Meals operates out of a 13,000-square-foot USDA-inspected food production facility in Meridian, Idaho.

And yes, it's a little bigger than our home kitchen.

This is where our team prepares the meals, sandwiches, burritos, snack packs and other grab-and-go foods that head out to our customers and wholesale partners.

On a busy production day, there are ingredients being prepped, meals being assembled, products being packaged and labeled, wholesale orders being filled, and deliveries getting ready to head out the door.

It's organized food-production chaos — and we love it.

What Does “USDA Inspected” Mean?

This is the not-as-funny-but-really-important part.

Operating a USDA-inspected facility means food safety isn't something we simply say we care about. It's built into how we operate every day.

Our team follows established food-safety procedures covering things like sanitation, employee practices, food handling, temperature control, production and recordkeeping.

We operate under food-safety programs and procedures including HACCP, SSOPs, SOPs and GMPs.

That's a lot of letters.

In normal-person language: we have detailed systems for making food safely and consistently, and we follow them every day.

And there's another pretty important distinction:

We have a USDA inspector in our facility every production day.

So while our products may have the personality of a small local company behind them, they're being produced in a professional, inspected food-production environment.

Local Doesn't Have to Mean Tiny

We're proud to be a local, family-owned Idaho business.

But sometimes people hear "local" and picture a couple of people cooking in a little kitchen.

Simple Bites has actually been in the food business for more than 24 years.

Over those years, we've grown from our beginnings in the coffeehouse and catering world into a company producing prepared meals and grab-and-go foods for individual customers as well as businesses.

Today, our food can be found in coolers beyond our own front door — including coffee shops, markets, airports and other grab-and-go locations.

We produce food here in Meridian and send it throughout the Treasure Valley and into Utah.

That's a LOT of sandwiches.

Why Does This Matter to You?

Because when you pick up a Simple Bites sandwich or heat up one of our meals, there's a whole lot happening behind that little package.

You're getting food made by a local company with a real team of people behind it.

You're also getting food produced in a professional facility with established food-safety procedures and USDA oversight.

We think that's a pretty great combination.

Small-business heart. Big-kitchen capabilities.

So…About Those 1,000 Sandwiches

Could we make 1,000 sandwiches?

Absolutely.

Would we make them in our home kitchen?

Absolutely not. 😂

We'll keep the home kitchen for coffee, family dinners and maybe the occasional frozen pizza.

The 1,000 sandwiches?

We'll make those at Simple Bites.

In our 13,000-square-foot USDA-inspected kitchen — where they belong.
